Let's Get Creative!
I'd thought I'd get on the bang wagon and start my own photo challenge. You pretty much see these every January, but instead of just doing these by myself, I'd thought I'd get my readers, followers and friends to join in!
So what does this mean?
Further down this post you'll see a list of photography challenges; one for each month. Many of us are very busy with full time work and other commitments so sometimes it's not possible to do a challenge every day or every week. So having a month to research, experiment, shoot and retouch will be enough to produce a great shot for each challenge. Not only will I be showcasing my imagery but I ask you to do so as well. If you take part, your image will be featured in a blog post at the end of each month.
What are the challenges I hear you ask?
January - Cold. Most places are in their winter months so capturing this topic should be somewhat easy. Don't worry if you're not though, fake it or find an "outside of the box" message for this topic.
February - Love. Love can mean a lot of things; romance, family, friendship, hobbies, career etc. The love for something has different meanings to everyone so have a think about what love means to you to get some ideas.
March - Silhouette. Aren't silhouettes beautiful? And very easy to create! All you need is a great subject which is backlit, preferably by the sun or lots of lights. Get creative!
April - Furry Friends. Whether that's your pet dog or your local zoo's lion; capture an animal you love.
May - Action. Freeze it or create motion blur; it's up to you!
June - Your Favourite Colour. This challenge is very open so interpret it how you like.
July - Macro. Get up close and personal; any subject.
August - Outdoors. Whether it's a landscape scene or photographing nature, get creative and shoot something wonderful outdoors.
September - Street. Hit the streets and find some interesting architecture, people, city life, culture etc. Get creative!
October - Autumn. This is the most beautiful season for colour. If you live somewhere that doesn't have set seasons, fake it. Think about what Autumn means to you.
November - Repetition. Find a scene with a repeating object or pattern. Or why not find a scene where everything is the same apart from one aspect; go against the rules.
December - Happy Holidays. Whatever you celebrate, get creative. There are plenty of subjects you can photograph at this time, whether it's festive or holiday/vacation related.
For each monthly image, you must write a short description about the photograph. This can be about the photography process, thoughts and meanings behind the image, the retouch process; any words to go alongside the image. You may also give your image a title if you wish.
If you'd like to take part in my Let's Get Creative Challenge, be sure to let me know in the comments section below or via Twitter.
