I was recently talking with a friend about her wedding photographs and her disappointment with them. She hired a Wedding Photographer to shoot her wedding, get all of the usual shots; pre-wedding, the Church ceremony, bride & groom shots, family shots, the details, speeches, cutting the cake, the first dance, party etc. She asked her Photographer several times "have you got this shot, have you got that shot" (including the essential shots of her and her husband together alone at the Church). My friend didn't feel that the Photographer was taking shots of everything and was probably slacking on getting every detail; weddings are once a lifetime occasions and it's essential to get every shot. Sadly to my friend's expectations, the photographs she received weren't as good as she hoped, many shots she asked for were not there including, like I mentioned above, a shot of her and her husband at the Church alone together; the perfect portrait which should be there in the album! The Photographer also hadn't bothered to retouch any of the photos, many weren't even printable as she wasn't happy with the quality of service here.
I consider myself to be quite good at Photoshop (I don't want to blow my own trumpet), but I offered my friend my skills. I said to her, "let me look through the photographs and let me see what I can do". I managed to retouch the photographs that needed work, I sorted her dress out for her as her underarm was poking over the dress and it looked out of place. I added in a tooth for her Mum and then the main task, removing a couple of people so that they had one portrait at the Church with just them there together alone.
I love to help people, whether you're a friend, family member or an acquaintance. Even though this work should have been undertaken by the Photographer, I almost felt like it was my duty to sort this out for them. I'm glad I was there to help them and it gave me something to do in Photoshop that day!
I edited nearly 100 photographs for them and I'm glad to say they are completely satisfied and happy with their pictures now! I've added a few below, all with before and after editing.
What do you think of my efforts? Comments always welcome!
